Stebbins High School Reviews

The best thing about Stebbins is the Tech-prep program. Students in many of the programs earn their way to national competitions. Mr. Prater (Engineering) and Mr. Amlin (Digital Design) are two of the best teachers anyone could ask for. They are dedicated to student success and do an awesome job. Also, the student year books staff is phenomenal! They put out an award-winning year book year after year. The new school building is state-of-the-art and beautiful. The down side to the school is that they don't win many football games. Also, the school seems to concentrate more on meeting the needs of honor students rather than meeting the needs of those with lower GPA's.

My son is in 10th grade and I feel Stebbins is the best school I could have choose for him. We actually live in another district that my husband and I find our district not an option for the education of our children. We choose to instead pay a reasonable tuition and feel our money is very well spent. The block scheduling truly helps the kids focus on a few classes at a time and I think they are able to learn more this way.

The academic programs provide a wide variety of opportunity. The special education program is comprehensive with an inclusive setting. There is a full scale honors program starting in the freshmen academy program through nine Advanced Placement courses. Additionally, student have the opportunity to participate in one of the best tech prep programs available in the state. Students who take advantage of the tech prep program and/or the honors program will have ample opportuinty to collect scholarship dollars.

The reason I choose to give only one star is because of Principal Leadership. The principal has his favorites and it shows in everything that he does.

Absolutely wonderful school! Terrific teachers! Both of my children attended Stebbins. One graduated in '03 & the other in '05. Neither had the priviledge to attend the beautiful new school but excelled attending the old one. They also have an outstanding vocational program. I had wonderful experiences volunteering at all the Mad River Local schools & wouldn't trade those years for anything. Made wonderful life-long friends, both on the parent side & teacher side.

My daughter went to Stebbins from 1998-2001. I was very pleased with most of the teachers and I felt the school prepared her for college. She took college prep classes as well as Vocational classes. She loved playing softball and was in the flag corp of the band. Working in high school she excelled as secretary at Danis (construction) and at the age of 18 worked as a loan officer for a mortgage company while attending Sinclair. She received her Associates degree while working at Sinclair. She is now working for Reynolds and Reynolds. Stebbins prepared her for 'The Big World' I am grateful to all the teachers that helped. Proud mother

I went to stebbins my 9th grade yr and I can say I was disappointed with the methods of teaching but one thing stebbins did do was the whole block scheduling. stebbins is a great school to learn at because I personally learned more there in the one semester I was enrolled then the whole time I've been in Georgia. stebbins has some great teachers like ms. Wolfe. I have become a bear now but I still and always will be an Indian. the only problem with stebbins is the prices for sports. in many other state students do not have to pay to do a sport or extracurricular activity.

The quality of education at Stebbins is beneficial, however the school fees are ridiculous. I think it's absurd that if I don't have the money immediately, my child can't get his schedule, or his report card. I Think it's great that Stebbins is a beautfil high school however I don't feel we should have to continue to pay quarterly for it, that's why we passed the levy here in Riverside, to begin with.

I would like to say the best teachers in the school by far are: Mr. Elliot Mrs. Niemeyer Mrs. Wright Mr. Spahr Mrs. Marino (worked with IEP Students) Mrs. Meginess *those were the best staff at stebbins.

In my opinion, Stebbins continues to disappoint. Every extra activity now has a $125 charge and you sure can't tell where the money is going. If you're a family with limited funds, your child will be left behind. The school district has all new schools but I can't tell you how many times I've been told there aren't enough books for my kids to bring home for homework. We are actively seeking a home in a different area.

As far as i am concerned, stebbins high school has some great teachers. I am a 1999 grauguate of Stebbins, at 24 I can still remaember the teacher who helped me the most. Mrs.Wright, enspired me to be who I am today, she spent many earling mornings and late nights, makeing sure I was able to get my diploma. The staff at Stebbins was always willing to walk the extra mile for me!

Stebbins was a great experience. I went to three different high schools because our family moved often and Stebbins by far was the head and shoulders above the rest. The faculty is very helpful and inspirational in preparing the student body for thier life after high school. Whether that be in college or straight into the work force. Particularly the ROTC program is by far the best around. They prepared me well for my career in the armed forces and for that I am eternally grateful.

Stebbins has latched onto something colleges already know with their block scheduling. I wish every high school across the nation would do this. My daughter is doing phenomenal as she only has to focus on 4 courses at a time...and then in Jan she started 4 new courses..just like college. Only drawback is if you move in the middle of the school year, I imagine it would be a bit difficult due to their curriculum...but like I said...This is a wonderful school, and the first one I've seen that has figured out the way to keep a childs attention. I love it, and so do my children. Keep up the good work!

I am a former Stebbins grad, and I loved the Mad River district. Stebbins was a great place to learn and grow. Students are always pumped, and the school continues to improve. Parents could definitely be a little more involved, but the ones who are involved are great. I would recommend Stebbins to any parent looking for a quality high school.

In my opinion, Stebbins is an okay school. The participation of parents is low, and the education is slowly increasing. Not the best, but yet, indeed an acceptable one. I believe that the students just don't put forth all their effort to be educated as well as they can be. I believe though it is a great school for extra curriculars. Indeed the programs at that school is amazing! I think Stebbins is an all around okay school. Not the best, but its getting by and for the kids, thats all that matters to them. But parent participation would do good for the schools in my opinion!

Stebbins is a terrific school. I have been involved with the school district for 10 years, and have seen a tremendous amount of growth over that time. There are many options for each student, and they are continuing to add high academic content and classes. The staff works hard to provide a quality education to students. I would recommend this high school to anyone.

I love Stebbins, I attend myself. Everyone said the step in to high school would be hard, but everyone in the school is so welcoming. I can't wait until I finish out this year to come back again.

Stebbins is a great school. I loved it! I had a great experience there. The teachers are awesome and the administration is just fantastic. The only downside to that is that the parent involvement is like none. Every big decision that is made for the education of the kids is just read out to the parents and kids without their input. Other than that, the students have a great school spirit and pep rallies are really fun! Students participate really well in community projects and represent their school well.
