Possum Elementary School Reviews

The teachers here are the best. They communicate with parents and students. I am so pleased my children attend this wonderfully diverse school

For the most part my experience with Possum has been good overall. I have two children who have attened Possum since pre-school. Both of my children have ADD and one has a speech problem. A few of the teachers are not patient enough and don't take bullying seriously. The acedemics are great, except for math. Who ever heard of not using a math book. I have a sister who just graduated college, a bachelor's in mathematics, and she said that our students will be lost if they don't know how to use a math book!

While there is limited support from some staff/administrator, the majority of the staff is very caring and willing to support our students in any way possible. Many parents have been involved in the PTO/P.O.P.S organization and have made a positive difference in the lives of the students. You will only get out of the district what you put into it.

No leadership from principal, discrimination against students. Disrespectful teachers, teachers belittle children, parents that are not involved. We have been in this district for eight years the schools get worse every year.

i love this school i go their and i love mr. heintz

This (2006) is my child's first year @ possum and it's a breathe of fresh air. She is 'age-appropriately' challenged. The expectations set before her are reasonable. She's an a/b student and actually likes going to school. The way it should be! thank you, possum elementary!!

I have a four kids with varied needs at Possum Elementary, and every teacher has been positive and helpful with each student in addressing their needs. Three of my kids are involved in sports and it has been a positive experience each year whether they win or lose.

As a parent who was very disappointed when their child didn't get into Reid (open enrollment); I am now VERY thankful! Possum's teachers and administrators were very warm and helpful and made sure our daughter learned . . . not just book work, but also music, band, sports, leadership, and helped to prepare her for Shawnee. The cliques were few and the warm atmosphere was very evident just walking into the building. Watching the students react w/ hugs for the principal and teachers was very warming. We would highly recommend this school for anyone moving into the district.

I'm a former student from Possum and I'd just like to say that the teachers were great there. They arn't just teachers, but they're adults who I could go to when I needed someone to talk to. They truely care about their students. What I didn't like about Possum was the fact that the hallways were always so cramped with students inbetween classes, that and the heat. The food wasn't always great, but I didn't go there just to eat! I started Possum in 5th grade because I moved from a huge school district. If I wouldn't have moved then I wouldn't know half of the kids in my grade. So if I had the choice to stay, I'd still choose Possum. It's a great school and I recommend it for kids! (The new vice principle is awesome!)

I am a father of two girls who attend Possum. My wife and I agree that Possum is an excellent school. Our girls attended another school before going to Possum. We were afraid the transition might be difficult, but it couldn't have gone better. The teachers were extrodinary in making our girls feel included. The professionalism of Possum exceededur expectations. The teachers are willing to do what it takes to help my children learn. My oldest daughter's teacher has taken her own personal time to work one-on-one with her on her English and reading. They communicate wonderfully with the parents -- both with concern and praise. My wife and I are very happy with Possum and so thankful we moved into this district.

The teachers at Possum should show more interest for their jobs, and the cafeteria food could definitely be better.

I think that it should be up to the same standards as schools like Reid.
