North High School Reviews

North is a school trying it's best with what it has. Sometimes it has problems with disruptive students but what school doesn't. That doesn't matter because north is now springfield high school!

North has moderate discipline and behavior problems, with incidents getting worse and greater in number in the past several years. A motivated student has to tolerate disruptive classes and more than several unprofessional teachers. Recent administration has been poor compared to years past.

I believe North is doing well at educating students, howevor the behavioral issues are never resolved. Its hard to spend seven hours a day somewhere with a negative atmosphere.

As an alumni of North High, I can testify that there is not a better school in the county. The teachers and administrators are top notch, and too often find themselves taking the blame for the lack of parental involvement. The quality of a childs education is ultimately the responsibility of the parent and the child, not the school system. The school system offers a broad range of programs that will ensure that a student is challenged and learns something. I am very satisfied with the quality of education I received from North High AND my parents. P.S. it is the parents job to disciple a child, never the teacher. Parents: take some accountibility, you brought this child into the world, not the school system.

Academic programs here are poor. Parents are not very involve overall, and extracurriculars are a luxury. Academics suffer due to lack of money.

I think combinding high schools is wrong.I feel only the best kids will get to do things.larger classes will hurt students. traffic will be terrible.what about transportation?what about voters veiws?most citizens want two schools.South has been first and sould be saved as an historal value.noth is wonderful too. keep them both!!!!

As I am ending my freshman year here at North, I must say that I absolutely love it! The teachers here made the transition into high school an easy one. I was in advanced classes, and they were challenging, but not impossible. You have to work hard to earn an A, which is exactly how it should be. We have great school spirit, and are even restarting an amazing cheer block for next year. I am in the band program here, and I was also a part of the volleyball organization, and I have no complaints about either of them. The parents could be more involved, but that is because many choose not to be involved, not because the school doesn't involve them. I love North, and I can't wait to start the next three years of high school here!

'North did not teach my son nothing'... Is what some parent stated in their above review... Some people don't realize that a child's doensn't only learn from school, but also from parents... And it's obvious that this particular parent, with THAT type of grammer, probably didn't help much.

I think that 'most' of our teachers at North High School do an exceptional job with teaching students. We have courses which seem unneccesary, but in the end the outcome proves that they taught us much more than we expected. I am senior at North and I am in the music program here. The choir I am in is not small but is not as large as the other choirs. I think we need to have to audition to be in choirs beacause most of the people in them use them as study halls to catch up with friends, and that's not what they are for. Our Sports here, are said to be at risk for being eliminated. As you probably know we didn't pass our levy, so a lot of cuts are being made. And I personally don't think that it is fair to the students at North High.

I've heard a lot of people gripe about our 'Lack' of school spirit. I'm sorry but not everyone lacks it. This year during football season, a lot of people seemed to care, seemed to show school spirit. As for this being a 'terrible' school I disagree. No it's not the best and I wish I could be at any other school that I could, but I know that there is worse out there. There is a lot of hate and bad behavior at this school and it's lack of dicipline, the authorities let them think that it's ok and they continue to do it. I've had a lot of good teachers, who have encouraged me to learn and have been very friendly. It's mostly a student thing and changes DO need to be made, but with some student imput.

Being a senior at North is going to be different. The teachers here could be better then what they are now. They should be more active with the students. As far as the students go, we make it our school. We have to make the school fun. This is the year for the class or 2005 to be on top. All-in-all the school does need new changes.

I think that the above reviews are enough to prove that North does not provide the quality education that young people need in order to survive college. I graduated from this school almost many years ago and nothing has changed. The students lack any form of school spirit. The teaching staff does not care. Period. The students are not pushed to improve themselves. The students actually think that their classes are a joke, because they can do very well giving mediocre performances. This leads to a false bravado. When these students reach the college level they are not academically ready for a large lecture hall. I believe that the school system itself needs to be seriously revamped before more of our future generations get caught in this slump.

As a student I hated school, but there were teachers at North that made me want to care about school and improve my grades. The teachers really care about the students and push them to do better.

I attend North and I think that it is a great school. All of the teachers I have had are nice and they are easy to get along with. There are challenges (this is not a free-ride school by any means). I am enjoying my time at North.

North did not teach my son nothing. He was in LD class so he did not have to take any of the state testing, so they just let him set in class all day doing nothing. When I went to the IEP meatings the would show me how he was progressing and he was doing good work. He would bring home A's And B's on his grade card. So I thought he was learning something. It was after he graduated that I fond out he has an education of about a first grader. Very unhappy with north and the Springfield School System

As a student I am increasingly dissapointed by the direction which North High is going. Freshman year I loved the school and the things happening, now in my Senior year I honestly wish I had moved before ever going here. While some of the people are good, and some of my teachers are fantastic, the majority of teachers and students leave much to be desired.
