Pushing the boundaries and blurring the lines between alternative, progressive and metal, Broken Ground is emerging as a powerful force in modern rock. They're proving to their many fans across the country that it's possible to blend complicated music with catchy riffs and melodies, and bring it to the mainstream listener.
Broken Ground got its start in western Ohio where longtime companions Scott Frank (vocals, bass) and Sam Davis (guitar) began to piece together their best work from over the years. In the winter of 2003, Davis met award-winning drummer Aaron Farrier doing a studio project in Troy, Ohio. After both agreeing they had amazing chemistry, Farrier joined the band full time early in 2004.
Broken Ground hit the studio in June 2004 to record a 5-song demo. With engineer Paul Conaway (Staind, Coal Chamber) at the helm, the band produced a nearly release-worthy piece of work that managed to push them ahead at a rapid pace.
The songs "Think for Yourself" and "You Justify" both saw tremendous online success, putting Broken Ground on the map and giving them a taste of what music listeners around the world thought of the music. The demo also landed them a development deal with Cathouse Records, an independent label in Woodville, TX.
In November 2005, Broken Ground expanded and brought in Zach, on the bass. The added member opened up a number of possibilities for the bands live performances, and broadened their creative horizons.
Broken Ground has a lot of potential to gain the respect of both underground and mainstream fans. Musicians and non-musicians can easily identify with the band's mesmerizing lyrics, complicated yet catchy guitar riffs, soaring vocal melodies, and technical, powerful drum parts. Their music is sure to get the blood rushing through your veins and leave you wanting more.
