Open on holidays...

My dog was just recently attacked by a neighbor's dog. He didn't stand a chance. The other dog (who outweighed my dog by 40-50 lbs) bit him repeatedly on the neck and severed his jugular. My neighbor helped put pressure on the wound while his wife tried to find an emergency vet clinic open on the holiday. She phoned a number of clinics--only to find they were closed for Labor Day weekend...and then she found DEVC, which is open on weekends and holidays. We drove my dog there immediately and he was operated on immediately. If it weren't for DEVC, my dog wouldn't have survived. We're lucky he survived at all... I was given a cost estimate beforehand and was only required to pay a downpayment, which I was able to put on my VISA. They provide an outstanding service and I am just grateful that they do. They showed me the cost estimate before they did anything, and it was up to me whether it was worth it. In my case, with my dog, it was. It's not like I have pet insurance. I understand

My Great Dane Sammy
Reviewed by HelloMetro User on 2009-05-01T01:49:00Z

It was Sunday 4/19/09. I brought my Great Dane Sammy there because it appeared he was having a seizure. They took him in a room. Vet called me in. She wasn't friendly at all. I came out and the receptionist gave me an outlined estimate. I knew it was going to be expensive. When I told the receptionist and the Vet that all I have is $300.00 in my checking account, you should of seen her face. I told them they would get paid in full the next day. I received a refund for $30 dollars in the mail from them the other day. I plan on returning it to them on behalf of Sammy. I want them to use it on some poor unfortunate person and their beloved pet. Put the money towards their bill. Also, the next time you are treating an animal, try to remember they are a part of some ones family. They are not only an invoice. Remember why you became a Veterinarian. Oh- and by the way, you were paid in full...for all services the next day like I said you would be.

Sunday morning tragedy
Reviewed by HelloMetro User on 2008-11-10T17:20:00Z

Our 15 year old Cornish Rex was the most lovable, loyal cat anyone could ever hope to have. Her name was Orchid and she was given to us 9 years ago, almost to the day. Orchid started having seizures at 2:30 AM on Sunday morning. We held her, helped her through the seizures and loved her as we always had. I don't know when I have cried so long, so hard and been so heartbroken in my life. At 8:30 am I decided - with much reluctance because I KNEW what was going to happen to my precious kitty - we called the Dayton Emergency Veterinary Hospital and were told to bring her in for an exam. It didn't take them long to determine that Orchid should be put down. We saw the most wonderful, caring people at this center - from the receptionist to the technician to the Vet - Dr. Brooks. They were SO sympathetic and caring! It was a terrible thing to decide, but they made us feel better about the decision we already knew we had to make. I've seen reviews about cost. These people spend nigh
